death pose are a brand new heavy-as-shit band from Chicago, IL. Originally known as big bird., the band formed in 2022 from the ashes of numerous punk/hardcore/indie bands including Typesetter, Little Teeth, The Sky We Scrape, etc. After quickly releasing a three-song EP, they supported heavy hitters like The Casket Lottery, Local H and Hum’s Matt Talbot, along with an appearance at Gainesville's 20th anniversary of the legendary Fest.
On their full-length debut, Midnight Society, death pose tear through 13 incendiary tracks of down-tuned punk/post-hardcore influenced noise rock replete with indelible hooks, sharp angular riffage, and a rhythm section that resonates with urgency. The album was produced by Jeff Dean (Alkaline Trio, Braid, The Story So Far, Samiam) at The Echo Mill and mastered by Alan Douches (Converge, Every Time I Die, Thrice, Mastodon, Dillinger Escape Plan) at West West Side.
Dark lyrical themes of personal dissociation, political action, religious intolerance, heartbreak, and the human experience are woven throughout, adding a layer of realism and responsibility to their discord. We live out our deaths each and every day in the modern world and death pose provide an exquisite soundtrack for such dystopian times.

Bellingham, WA duo MELANCHOLIA have announced their debut album Book of Ruination. Formed in 2018, the duo has already released three EPs that have made waves through the underground. Book of Ruination, their most ambitious release to date, is a meditation into the void of sonic darkness and esoteric philosophy… an immense journey through life, death, and what lies beyond.
True to its name, MELANCHOLIA explores dread and anguish in all of its malformed glory through the lenses of crushing doom/sludge, ferocious black metal/death metal and raw, primitive crust punk. Unified by bleak lyrical themes, suffocating atmosphere, psychedelic dissonance and striking visual art by vocalist/guitarist Gage Lindsay, MELANCHOLIA exist to push the boundaries of extreme music.
Book of Ruination was recorded at The Unknown Studio in Anacortes, WA with Rich Canut III. The album was mastered by Adam Pike (Red Fang, Murder by Death) and Nate Abner (Graves at Sea).
ABOUT THE VIDEO:
In the mid 13th century while the Black Death ravaged medieval Europe, rumors spread of a marauding plague hag, The Pesta, who swept from village to village with her rake, taking her victims and leaving traumatized survivors. Now, hundreds of years later, in the wake of another deadly pandemic, time has shown us that despite our scientific advancements there are still those that cling to the same paranoid superstitions, and so she roams once more.
