Koilos x FDS - Hella Good (No Doubt Cover)

Koilos and Franccesca De Struct (Fate DeStroyed) tap into the numetal revival with an energetic and shockingly heavy cover of No Doubt’s “Hella Good”.

Los Angeles, CA - March 17th 2023, Indianapolis native metal outfit, Koilos, has paired up with Los Angeles’s, Franccesca De Struct & FDS Band, to present a catchy nu metal rendition of the early 2000’s pop single, “Hella Good”

Partnering up Nick Scott (I See Stars, Attila, Asking Alexandria), Koilos and FDS have unleashed “Hella Good'' on the world and this down-tuned, nu metal inspired track is a prime example that genre-blending is the way of the future. The combination of huge choruses, gutturals, rap style ad libs, and driving guitars translates this pop single into an anthem on the bleeding edge of 2023.

Koilos, who combines elements of contrasting genres like metal, pop, and hip hop, and FDS with their crusade to establish themselves on the metal festival circuit, are challenging the industry standard by proving that independent artists can find a meaningful foothold in a genre dominated by record label giants, and they are staking a claim at the forefront of the DIY metal movement.

Taking pages from the recent numetal revival, FDS flips the script by leaning heavily into its metalcore roots and being uncompromising in it’s inclusion of trap influences - resulting in a hard-hitting modern stacked with 808’s, trap beats, and relentless down-tuned breakdowns.

Koilos combines elements of hard rock, modern metal, and hip hop - seeks to bring a refreshed sound to metal that is both original and accessible to fans across many genres.

The “Hella Good” release comes complete with a high-energy, crowd thumping video directed by Brian Foster of We R Media, which is a tribute back to the numetal era from which the cover’s inspiration was drawn.

The track pulls no punches, neither does Koilos. Of the track, Jake Newman (Guitar & writer for Koilos says),

“The Hella Good cover signifies a fun union of two major sources of our creative inspiration: pop music and metal. The song pays homage to the impact that Gwen Stefani and No Doubt had on us, while also giving us the chance to modernize and add our own heavy twist. The uniqueness of the track stands as both a challenge and an achievement of an unlikely creative vision.”

About FDS
Los Angeles based FDS has established its presence in the US festival scene with appearances at some of the nation's biggest gatherings.

Their debut single & accompanying video "Break Free" premiered in 2018 on Alternative Press and graced some of Spotify's largest curated playlists.
