Bellingham, WA duo MELANCHOLIA have announced their debut album Book of Ruination. Formed in 2018, the duo has already released three EPs that have made waves through the underground. Book of Ruination, their most ambitious release to date, is a meditation into the void of sonic darkness and esoteric philosophy… an immense journey through life, death, and what lies beyond.

True to its name, MELANCHOLIA explores dread and anguish in all of its malformed glory through the lenses of crushing doom/sludge, ferocious black metal/death metal and raw, primitive crust punk. Unified by bleak lyrical themes, suffocating atmosphere, psychedelic dissonance and striking visual art by vocalist/guitarist Gage Lindsay, MELANCHOLIA exist to push the boundaries of extreme music.

Book of Ruination was recorded at The Unknown Studio in Anacortes, WA with Rich Canut III. The album was mastered by Adam Pike (Red Fang, Murder by Death) and Nate Abner (Graves at Sea).

Emily Highfield’s one woman project Suldusk has woven the acoustic tones of Dark/Neo Folk with elements of Post Rock and Atmospheric Black Metal to create a powerful panorama of shimmering guitars, haunting melodies and atmospheric density on her debut album “Lunar Falls”.

The album’s undercurrent theme is about living on the margins, and the intolerable suffering and sacrifice in the quest for identity. Nature provides much of the lyrical inspiration as the source of refuge and guidance throughout this quest. It is dedicated to the memory of Aleah Starbridge. “The Elm” is an adaptation of Aleah’s and Juha Raivio’s song “Sinking Ships”.

“Lunar Falls” will be released by Northern Silence Productions on April 12th, 2019.

"Phanerozoic II is more experimental, more eclectic in musical style and direction, and more varied in terms of tempos, beats, guitar work and the use of electronics," notes Staps. "This was an intentional choice: we wanted Part I to feel rather streamlined and to have a strong cohesion between the individual songs. We wanted to create a certain vibe to linger from the first until the last note throughout the whole record. We kept the weirder, more daring and more progressive material for Part II. The outcome is a record that is a real journey. It starts in one place, and concludes in a totally different place. In a way, it relates to Pelagial, which was similar in that it was also a journey: but a more guided, focused and predictable one. Phanerozoic II on the other hand is closer to the experience of free fall."

Divided into two sections - Mesozoic and Cenozoic - Phanerozoic II once again showcases the detail and depth that have become two of The Ocean's most enduring trademarks. While ostensibly delving into the extraordinary realities of the Earth's shifting temporal tides, Staps and his comrades have long drawn hazy parallels between their chosen subjects and the emotional experiences that their music strives to convey. Phanerozoic II is essentially an album about time, with some very poignant and pointed allusions to the modern world woven into the new music's spiritual fabric.

“This song was written as a message to my brother Adam who died April 5th 2022. Adam got me into hardcore and playing music when we were younger. He started and played in our old band King Conquer and was a massive part in the South Florida metal and hardcore scene. Adam was diagnosed with a severe case of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) when he was only 16 years old. He fought through it for years continuing to tour through the pain, loss of sight, numbness of limbs, and brain lesions until he physically couldn't do it anymore.

Bodysnatcher had planned to have Adam write the lyrics for our next album. That album was going to be his point of view and struggles through life with MS that most people could never imagine. I wanted him to be able to still have an input in one more album I was part of... but on April 5th 2022 he passed away. While writing these lyrics I knew I wanted to also include something he had written in the past. The words that read "You don't know real pain until you feel mine, Losing faith on a bathroom floor" are taken from the King Conquer song "Turmoil Before Enlightenment" that he wrote all the lyrics for 12 years ago. Chills ran down my spine remembering those words because when he passed away he was found exactly like that. "Dead Rabbit" was his nickname most knew him by so we named this song after him.” -Chris Whited

Ahead of their imminent and long awaited State of Unrest tour together, metal titans LAMB OF GOD and KREATOR have a special surprise for fans, releasing the blistering joint single 'State of Unrest' on February 10th, 2023.

When the initial State of Unrest tour was postponed in March 2020 due to the global pandemic, Mark Morton (LAMB OF GOD) and Mille Petrozza (KREATOR) connected and began working on a song together. After the music was completed, they enlisted Riley Gale (POWER TRIP) to sing the vocal. POWER TRIP was intended to be the original opening band of the State of Unrest tour. Tragically, Riley Gale passed away in August 2020 before he was able to record his vocal on the song.

After the further postponement of the State of Unrest tour, LAMB OF GOD and KREATOR came together to finish and record the song with D. Randall Blythe (LAMB OF GOD) and Mille Petrozza on vocals. Proceeds from the single will be donated to Dallas Hope Charities in Riley Gale's name, an organisation he was involved with and cared deeply about.

The State of Unrest tour begins February 15th in Munich, Germany and closes in the UK at London's OVO Wembley Arena on March 21st.

Two critically acclaimed albums that not only musically respresent the class of ZORNHEYM, but also visually are something quite exceptional, as both records are accompanied by a stunning graphic novel, in which each chapter takes a closer look at the different inmates of the ZORNHEYM asylum. While the album's lyrics and the session notes in the booklet served as two parts of the complete story, ZORNHEYM now deliver the third and final piece of the puzzle with the graphic novel, and you will follow Dr. Bettelheim from when he is putting the final touches on his statement of intent till the horrific ending of the experiment. As on their debut "Where Hatred Dwells and Darkness Reigns" ZORNHEYM have again collaborated with the super talented Finnish artist Anu Saari, who has brought the story to life with her amazing painting skills!

ZORNHEYM about the making of their new EP:
"During the pandemic Zorn and Bendler did some live streaming and played acoustic interpretations of some of our songs. When it was time to record “The Zornheim Sleep Experiment” we decided to record “Whom the Night Brings” as an acoustic version to add as a bonus.

The original plan was to release that bonus track when the graphic novel was done. Due to a pregnancy the graphic novel was delayed. Zorn then remembered that Blind Guardian had released an album with acoustic interpretations of some of their songs in the ‘90’s. To reward our patient inmates we felt that we wanted to record a couple of songs, since the graphic novel took longer than expected to finalize. To thank our French fans that gave us an extra warm welcome on the successful French tour last year we decided to record “Keep the Devil Away” in French as well.

For “Slumber Comes in Time” we decided to make it in Swedish, since it’s based around an old folk tune that the Vallons brought to Sweden during the 1700’s, and base the whole song around that old folk melody."

CARNAL TOMB from Germany's chaotic and vibrant capital city Berlin have reached that point in their career, which is traditionally associated with 'making or breaking it': the famous third album. Entitled "Embalmed in Decay", this beautifully putrid and rotten manifest of morbidity perfectly channels the spirit of old school death metal.

The Germans have honed their songwriting to razor edged sharpness with slightly shorter tracks compared to their previous releases, fast forward blast beats, and they have also kept some of their characteristic doom-driven doom passages. It all adds up to a contemporary version of classic death metal with enormous firepower that will cement their status as one of the hottest young acts of this most brutal genre.

Guest performances on "Embalmed in Decay" by Serkan Niron from Turkey's death metal sickos ENGULFED on the track 'Draped in Disgust' and some additional intros from former MORBID PANZER as well as PUTRESCINE, and SPEEDWHORE guitarist Leonhard Link put the deliciously toxic icing on CARNAL TOMB's gut and gore cake.

The album title 'Draped in Disgust' as well as the track 'The Putridarum' are inspired by a chilling funeral practice particularly 'popular' in Southern Italy from late medieval until early modern times: The corpses of the deceased were placed into so called 'putredariums' where they were left to rot until nothing remained except the bones, which were brought to an ossuary as their final resting place. This procedure was symbolising a state of purgatory that the dead had to go through.

Other gruesome sources of inspiration for CARNAL TOMB were shaped in the original mould of death metal lyrics that include the works of H.P. Lovecraft as well as gore and zombie movies such as Amando de Ossorio's 1972 genre classic "Tombs of the Blind Dead", which directly influenced the song 'The Putridarum'. Obviously, these themes have also inspired the morbid cover artwork of "Embalmed in Decay" by artist Skaðvaldur.

CARNAL TOMB were formed in Berlin in 2014 out of a hunger for old school death metal that possessed all band members. Besides a remarkable number of demo recordings, EPs, split and single releases, their two full-lengths "Rotten Remains" (2016) and "Abhorrent Veneration" (2019) quickly earned the band an excellent reputation in death metal circles around the globe.

Particularly, "Abhorrent Veneration" opened the stages of Europe to CARNAL TOMB – of which the early 2023 "Decayed Manifestations" tour with TERATOMA led them through Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Switzerland, and Germany. A tour supporting "Embalmed in Decay" is already in the planning stages.

With the putrid death metal horror of "Embalmed in Decay", CARNAL TOMB raise the blind dead from their tombs and unleash these monsters and other brutal evils upon an unsuspecting world.

Rock band Solely Veil released their debut single "Serenity" to all major platforms via Daeth Development. The single is from the band's album Conquer that will be released in 2024 and was produced by Nick Miller, Edward Fenley & Elliot Polokoff .

"This song is about self reflection, and trying to do everything for everybody and losing who I am within my story and feeling like I'm imprisoned in my own dream," says the band's vocalist, Allen Wheeler.

Allen Wheeler is the lead singer, songwriter and (musical) composure for Sacramento based band, Solely Veil. Wheeler has been in the music industry for over 20 years and has played in the renowned metalcore bands Shortie and Burn Halo. Wheeler has also written for multiple, professional musicians and artists throughout his career. Solely Veil is an intimate project based on raw emotions without being married to any one specific musical style and speaks to the vast array of Wheeler’s musical influences. Wheeler’s vision for Solely Veil is to invoke listeners emotions and to speak about the truths and realities of life through his personal experiences and perspective.

"In a Forest Dark" is the solo project from multi instrumentalist Mário Pereira (Eternal Mourning). It is a doom/black metal music project, with some gothic and dark influences. The first album is called "Buried Giant" and it's conceptual, inspired by the book "The Buried Giant" by Kazuo Ishiguro.
