Death metal powerhouse Slaughterror is set to unleash their stunning debut EP, "Endless Lust For Gore", on February 23 via Noble Demon.

Formed in 2022, Slaughterror is a formidable trio of talent hailing from the cold heart of Finland. Their music is a relentless onslaught of aggression and groove, capturing the essence of classic death metal. Drawing inspiration from American death metal giants like Six Feet Under and Cannibal Corpse, Slaughterror's sound takes you back to the golden era of the genre. GOST exists in the dark crack between black metal and the most shadowy end of electronic music. Since the release of the Radio Macabre EP at the start of 2013, and the remorseless digital nightmare of their Skull debut album six months later, Texas-based multi-instrumentalist, producer, and main-brain James Lollar has become an increasingly singular force in music. Far more aggressive and sinister than the synthwave he’s often grouped with, GOST is a harsh and unique digital nightmare that takes the listener right into the heart of the abyss.

Now GOST returns with their sixth album, Prophecy. Unquestionably their most exhilarating and dangerous sounding work to date, Prophecy is a record that perfectly reflects the horror and grim anxieties of a world beset with religious and political overreach, and progress, “being rolled back to the fucking 1950s.”

“It's about an imaginative fall of the Western civilization, the biblical end of the world – the rise of Satan and Armageddon,” says Lollar. “In America, there's been a big rise of scared, reactive Christianity again, and almost like a re-emergence of the Satanic Panic. So it felt like an appropriate time to bring Satan back into things.”

Recorded alone in Texas during a burst of creativity at the end of 2022, Prophecy is the perfect vessel for such things. Following the experimentation and more melodic touches of 2019’s Valediction, Lollar says it also acts as something of a return to older roots, to recapture the spirit of GOST.

“When Valediction came out, COVID hit, and I guess people weren’t so into art while the world was on its knees,” he says. “I also wanted to reconnect with some of my older fans who maybe didn’t feel that album so much. I wanted to go back in time and bring some of the older shit back, some of the older sounds.”

As the Earth of 2020 continues to revolve in a puzzling singularity, three of the world’s most powerful men have harnessed their collective capabilities for nuclear and musical power into a quest for world peace. Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, and Kim Jong Un are certainly uncommon names when discussing potential supergroups, but in keeping on the surreal path of the ever-distorting world, they were destined to come together.

A Clear and Present Rager was recorded in Denver, Colorado by Dave Otero at Flatline Audio. “Frankly, a lot of power trio recordings are just pathetic. We thought about records we all liked sonically and kept coming back to Cattle Decapitation, so it was terrific that Dave had us all out to beautiful Colorado to golf and record,” stated Donald.

The debut EP is set for an October release just before the United States presidential elections, a timely moment to catalyze a bold and conscientious path towards world peace. The unknown future rolls toward us, but we face it, for the first time, with a sense of hope. If these three men, these world leaders of differing views and morals, can learn the value of a peaceful existence on Earth through music, maybe we can too.

ABOUT THE CONCEPT:
Inspired by the comedy "The Imaginary Sick" (Le malade imaginaire) by Moliere (1673). "Virtus Dormitiva" is a notion that appears in the mentioned work, when a character is asked to explain why opium causes sleep, to which the character responds that opium contains a "dormitive principle" (virtus dormitiva) that it is the origin of its ability to provoke sleep.
I take the expression "Virtus Dormitiva" as a metaphor to define the state of continuous sleepiness in which we find ourselves submerged.
The unification of the masses under what is called "common sense."
"Common sense" is like a giant wave that crushes individualities and in its wake leaves a uniform mass, generic and dead in ideas and passions.
Self-censorship, denial of logical reasoning. (Anything that is outside that "common sense" is classified as conspiracy theory and invalidated without question).
This state of drowsiness generated by everyday life, day-to-day worries, fatigue, monotony ... numb our mind.
The pressure of Social mandates (what is expected of us).
Obligations (work, subsistence).
The feeling that we have to be super productive all the time (self-slavery).
The reduction of the ability to focus on one thing at a time, which decreases reasoning ability, focus, and understanding.
The media mixing news with entertainment, constantly bombarding with the same topics (creating and imposing the "common sense").
The control exercised by fear.
The judgment of the other, the condemnation of the other.
The fear of waking up, the fear of the truth.
The comfort of living in a lie.
Selective empathy.
The manipulation.

SOBRE EL CONCEPTO:
Inspirado en la comedia "El enfermo imaginario" (Le malade imaginaire) de Moliere (1673). "Virtus Dormitiva" es una noción que aparece en la obra mencionada, cuando se le pide a un personaje que explique por qué el opio provoca el sueño, a lo que el personaje responde que el opio contiene un "principio dormitivo" (virtus dormitiva) que es el origen de su capacidad para provocar el sueño.
Tomo la expresión "Virtus Dormitiva" como metáfora para definir el estado de continua somnolencia en el que nos encontramos sumergidos.
La unificación de las masas bajo lo que se llama "sentido común".
El "sentido común" es como una ola gigante que aplasta las individualidades y deja a su paso una masa uniforme, genérica y muerta en ideas y pasiones.
Autocensura, negación del razonamiento lógico. (Todo lo que esté fuera de ese "sentido común" se clasifica como teoría de la conspiración y se invalida sin lugar a dudas).
Este estado de somnolencia generado por la vida cotidiana, las preocupaciones del día a día, el cansancio, la monotonía ... adormecen nuestra mente.
La presión de los mandatos sociales (lo que se espera de nosotros).
Las obligaciones (trabajo, subsistencia).
La sensación de que tenemos que ser súper productivos todo el tiempo (autoesclavitud).
La reducción de la capacidad de concentrarse en una cosa a la vez, lo que disminuye la capacidad de razonamiento, el enfoque y la comprensión.
Los medios mezclan noticias con entretenimiento, bombardeando constantemente con los mismos temas (creando e imponiendo el "sentido común").
El control ejercido por el miedo.
El juicio del otro, la condena del otro.
El miedo a despertar, el miedo a la verdad.
La comodidad de vivir en una mentira.
La empatía selectiva.
La manipulación.
La censura y la autocensura.
La represión y la auto-represión.
