About The track:

The song "Holy Killer" begins with a dark orchestral intro that was inspired by anything that is kept away in the dark, like the bottom of the deepest oceans. It is followed by relatively a simple chord progression with brutal screaming vocals, that then goes into a soft clean guitar interlude accompanied by a Mellotron, after which the song goes into full death metal mode. It's the only song where we have dual solos between guitars and keyboards, almost like a conversation between the two of them. The song then ends with an outro that repeats a few times but builds up in terms of the vocals and orchestral layers.

Lyrically, this song is about someone who dies and is in limbo or in search of the afterlife he was promised by the gods he worships, but is instead brought to hell to atone for the evil deeds he performed throughout his life in the name of the very religion he worshipped.

About the album:

Musically, the album is a blend of our favorite elements from progressive metal, technical death metal, death metal, and symphonic/power metal. There are some very heavy/dark riffs, some very grandiose/more epic sections with lots of orchestral instruments, as well as lighter/cleaner sections with clean vocals. From these various elements, the pacing of the album is that of a rollercoaster ride in terms of intensity, but we definitely lean much more toward the heavier side than the lighter side overall. The song structures are very progressive, with fewer repeating parts, though we do use repetition, and if we don’t we bring back similar melodic or rhythmic ideas throughout songs to make them feel more like complete pieces of music. Our goal with the songs is to make listeners feel an overwhelming urge to headbang to the heavier sections, feel the strong emotions of the more grandiose/epic sections, and feel the mysterious energy of the cleaner/more laid-back sections.

Lyrically, the songs on the album are broadly about us trying to understand death, both as a tragedy and a natural part of life, the pain it brings, and the resilience that can be born from it. This can mean the physical death of an individual, our planet, the universe, or a person’s internal fire and lust for life. We use storytelling in some songs as a vehicle for this, and since we love fantasy media, the content of these stories has fantasy elements, while also weaving in deeper concepts of death, hardship, regret, and growth. Other songs revolve around historical figures, while others are mostly metaphorical, but all are linked together by this exploration of all aspects of death.

Single track taken from the band's upcoming album "Invocation Through Revocation", due for release on November 17th, 2023 via Wormholedeath.

Mormânt De Snagov is an extreme metal band from Turku and Naantali area, Finland and “Invocation through Revocation” is their fifth studio effort.

Now, this track takes Mormânt De Snagov to previously unseen territory. This, almost a gothic metal style, song is a catchy one, spiced with solo guitar parts that are very typical to Mormânt De Snagov since our fourth album. Back then we thought we would explore the soloing style that is rarely heard in extreme metal context, and on this album, we took this idea even further. To balance the midpaced tempo of the song, there is a brutal surprise in the middle, built from furious and steady blast beat, unorthodox chord progression and the longest scream ever recorded in this bands' history. No studio magic here, just a deep breath and let it all out.
The lyrics are inspired by death and the finite length of a human life. The verses were written at the time of death of a very close relative of one of the band members. The chorus closes the circle with profound thoughts about nihilism and enlightened darkness

GATES TO HELL sign to NUCLEAR BLAST RECORDS

Since its inception, Louisville's GATES TO HELL has fused the finest elements from both metal and hardcore, highlighting fast metal riffs with heavy hardcore and deathcore breakdowns written in a manner unexplored within the Kentucky music scene.

The last year saw the band playing nearly 150 shows in 11 different countries supporting the likes of DYING FETUS, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, THE ACACIA STRAIN, DESPISED ICON, SANGUISUGABOGG, BODYSNATCHER, KRUELTY, and DYING WISH on various tours across the US, Canada and Europe.

Continuing this momentum with no sign of slowing down, the band is ushering in 2024 with a new home at Nuclear Blast Records, a pummeling new single, and heading on the road with labelmates MACHINE HEAD and FEAR FACTORY.

GATES TO HELL's guitarist Seth Lewis states, “I was a kid who loved metal from a very young age and I was constantly buying CDs of my favorite bands. Over time, I saw how many of those bands' CDs had the Nuclear Blast logo on the back. It’s a very unreal feeling to be working with them now with Gates to Hell. Very excited for what the future holds.”

Nuclear Blast American Label Manager & A&R Tommy Jones comments, "After a tip-off from my buddy Scott Lee, I first entered the Gates to Hell at the Milwaukee Metal Fest on May 28th, 2023. Straight from the rip seeing the band live, I was way into their style of Brutal Death Metal laced with hardcore energy. I could envision them being part of the new breed at Nuclear Blast. Fast forward after some hang sessions on the Jersey shore, and up at the New England Metal Fest, we officially sealed the deal in October on Friday the 13th. Fitting AF! The band's newest offering comes in the single, fittingly entitled 'Resurrected'. The song is a perfect example of their hybrid sound mixing modern death metal with the hardcore spirit. The song was engineered and mixed by Andy Nelson at Bricktop Studios while mastering was completed by Brad Boatwright at Audioseige Mastering.

“Our new track ‘Resurrected’ just dropped through Nuclear Blast" comments Seth Lewis. "It’s my favorite Gates to Hell song released to date. After touring and practicing as much as we have the last couple of years, we’ve all really meshed together so much better as musicians. Alice In Chains was always one of my favorite bands, especially from the Pacific Northwest. That scene was so huge in the 90s, and so many great bands came from there. Out of all the bands in the Seattle scene, I think AIC was my favorite. In fact, when I was about 13, I got my first CD player in my room, and my grandad took me to the pawn shop one day and my very first CD was "Jar of Flies". I wore that thing out, every song was just amazing to me.

The reason I think I pushed so hard with the guys to do AIC as our first cover, and "Them Bones" in particular, was it was just the heaviest grungy song ever. The lyrics and overall vibe of the song was just very fitting for our style of metal/rock. When we recorded our album Relentless, we found we were doing a ton of back up harmony vocals, and as it was happening in the studio, I just kept thinking of Layne and Jerry, and how amazing their vocals were together, so I wanted to tap into that vibe or spirit when we were recording. Needless to say, Relentless ended up being something we are all very proud off, and now we wanted to pay tribute to one of the bands that was very inspirational to us. We are all fans, every member has their own favorite group or inspiration, but bottom line, this band loves to be at all the shows, fists in air, and loving the music. We hope you feel the same way we did about our cover and tribute to Alice In Chains.

UK-based alternative rock band, Found Missing? were formed in 2018 by vocalist Justin Brett from Twelvepointhead, drummer Graham Lyons (Primary Slave, Quantum Bigfoot), and bass player Simon Gardner.
"Blind Leading The Blind" is the band's debut album and it is a statement of intent, displaying a band that wants to achieve the targets they have set themselves by delivering quality music which has a refreshing uniqueness, and which can also cross genres commercially, including rock, grunge, metal, nu-metal.

Lokheira’s Dark of The Night album was created in 2022 after their lead vocalist, Irene Mavroudis Ramaglino, dreamt of the album’s title song - In The Dark of The Night. She dreamt of the song’s melody and woke up in the middle of the night and wrote the lyrics. Together, with her husband Rob Ramaglino and Rob’s brother, Josh Ramaglino - who is featured in the song with his guitar solo - they composed the rest of the songs.
