"The largest, loudest expression from our upcoming album, ‘On Earth Or in Hell’, sets a more serious tone, casting the good time party anthems aside for this release and title track of our upcoming album. Our blend of thrash and N.W.O.B.H.M. came together for this song. A distinct black and death metal twin vocal attack, of Jack Cerre (lead vocals / guitar) and Fernando Villalobos (drums / vocals) drive the aggressive melody.

The video portrays us in a fiery hellscape, thrashing and screaming, with the intensity of the flames matching the ferocity of the song and the impending fate of the damned. The collaboration with the video’s director, ‘Michael Jari Davidson’ (Alice in Chains, Escuela Grind, Wake) came from Davidson attending one of our live shows and him wanting to capture the chaotic energy. His visionary work brought the song to life and the video is a reflection of our progressing intensity, and fury.

The riff-fuelled offering, "On Earth or In Hell", condemns the lies and denial of our nation’s genocidal past. Sonic rage and disgust fuel the track’s fire with hope that the crimes of church and country are never forgotten.”

Mighty US metal pioneers WARLORD return with "Free Spirit Soar" in 2024!

The "Conquerors" 7" single is out on 12th April 2024. The new full length "Free Spirit Soar" is out on 10th May 2024. Both released on HIGH ROLLER RECORDS.

Legendary US Metal band Warlord was formed in 1981 by Mark Zonder and William J. Tsamis. One year later, in 1982, the song “Lucifer’s Hammer” (based on a novel by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle) appeared on the prestigious compilation album »Metal Massacre II«. This resulted in a deal with Metal Blade Records, with Warlord recording their debut mini-album. »Deliver Us« was released in 1983 and is today considered as the blueprint for what was later to be called “Epic Metal”. »Deliver Us« was followed by »And The Cannons Of Destruction Have Begun...« in 1984.

After a long hiatus, »Rising Out Of The Ashes« appeared as the comeback album for Warlord in 2002, while it took another eleven years for the follow-up »The Holy Empire« to see the light of day in 2013.

Up until the present day, »The Holy Empire« would remain the last Warlord studio album with all new material, as William J. Tsamis sadly passed away on 13th of May 2021 at the age of 60.

However, with »Free Spirit Soar«, a brand new studio album by Warlord with all songs having been recorded between March and September 2023, it’s Drummer Mark Zonder and singer Giles Lavery paying tribute to the musical heritage of Bill Tsamis. They are joined by Jimmy Waldo on keyboards/synthesizer, Phillip Bynoe on bass and Eric Juris on guitars. “We wanted to finish these pieces of music ‘for Bill’,” explains Lavery, “and the material we felt was certainly strong enough to inspire us to do so.” Regarding the guitar parts he specifies: “Bill is there where we could pull his tracks off the demo recordings, in much the same way the Beatles were recently able to rescue John Lennon’s voice from an old demo tape. Eric does most of the heavy lifting on guitar, but all music was written by Bill and we stayed very very faithful to what he wrote.”

All in all, Giles Lavery is very satisfied with how »Free Spirit Soar« turned out: “It was a bit of an uncharted adventure delving into Bill’s demos and unfinished music, and also having to write lyrics and vocal melodies to the songs - the only two exceptions being the two Lordian Guard songs that we selected to ‘Warlord-ize’ …as has been tradition on every Warlord album since »Rising Out Of The Ashes«. Everything but two songs have vocals for the first time, so that entire area of the composition is new … As for the music, I think much of it is unheard, a few bits and pieces you might recognize from some of the catalogue reissues, instrumental bonus tracks etc. As producer of the album it was my job to sort through all the pieces and pull together songs.”

Alice In Chains was always one of my favorite bands, especially from the Pacific Northwest. That scene was so huge in the 90s, and so many great bands came from there. Out of all the bands in the Seattle scene, I think AIC was my favorite. In fact, when I was about 13, I got my first CD player in my room, and my grandad took me to the pawn shop one day and my very first CD was "Jar of Flies". I wore that thing out, every song was just amazing to me.

The reason I think I pushed so hard with the guys to do AIC as our first cover, and "Them Bones" in particular, was it was just the heaviest grungy song ever. The lyrics and overall vibe of the song was just very fitting for our style of metal/rock. When we recorded our album Relentless, we found we were doing a ton of back up harmony vocals, and as it was happening in the studio, I just kept thinking of Layne and Jerry, and how amazing their vocals were together, so I wanted to tap into that vibe or spirit when we were recording. Needless to say, Relentless ended up being something we are all very proud off, and now we wanted to pay tribute to one of the bands that was very inspirational to us. We are all fans, every member has their own favorite group or inspiration, but bottom line, this band loves to be at all the shows, fists in air, and loving the music. We hope you feel the same way we did about our cover and tribute to Alice In Chains.

Lokheira’s Dark of The Night album was created in 2022 after their lead vocalist, Irene Mavroudis Ramaglino, dreamt of the album’s title song - In The Dark of The Night. She dreamt of the song’s melody and woke up in the middle of the night and wrote the lyrics. Together, with her husband Rob Ramaglino and Rob’s brother, Josh Ramaglino - who is featured in the song with his guitar solo - they composed the rest of the songs.

For more than 20 years, vocalist/guitarist Michael Poulsen has been spearheading Danish rock and roll machine Volbeat, releasing eight full-lengths, selling millions of albums, and filling stadiums worldwide. Before fronting Volbeat, however, Poulsen formed death metal band Dominus, which recorded four fast, brutal albums in the mid '90s. When Poulsen was putting together songs for Volbeat's 2021 album, Servant Of The Mind, he wrote a bunch of death metal riffs and saved them on his phone. Then, when he was done with the Volbeat record, he reopened the rusty gates to Armageddon and started putting together songs for his new death metal band Asinhell, whose debut album Impii Hora (Latin for Ungodly Hour), is a tribute to Poulsen's favourite old-school groups. The songs are rooted in crushing riffs yet injected with strong guitar hooks and shout-along refrains.

"We're very excited to share the first taste of Asinhell with 'Fall Of The Loyal Warrior,'" says Poulsen. "The song is kind of a tribute to bands I love, like Bolt Thrower, Entombed, Autopsy, Grave, and Darkthrone. They're the reason why we can do this in the first place, and we're proud to wear our influences on our sleeve. The album was inspired by late '80s and early '90s old school death metal, and one of our brightest points of inspiration was the mighty Death, fronted by the legendary Chuck Schuldiner. There's a lot of Death in there. Schuldiner is one of my favorite death metal vocalists, the other being our vocalist Marc [Grewe]. So to me, this song is the combination of two of my favorites. 'Let the metal flow,' as Chuck would have said!"

While Poulsen sings in Volbeat and sang for Dominus, he didn't want to front Asinhell. So, in March 2022, he called his old friend, ex-Morgoth singer Marc Grewe (Insidious Disease) and invited him to join the party. "I had known Michael quite a long time and he always mentioned that we should do a death metal project one day, but I never took him too seriously because he was so busy with Volbeat," Grewe says. "Then he called for real and said, 'Yeah, I want to do it now. Are you up for it?' Immediately, I was 'Yes, of course!'"

After considering drummer friends from established bands, Poulsen asked Morten Toft Hansen from Danish group Raunchy to join. Not only does Morten play like a fiend possessed, his and Poulsen's six-year-old daughters are good friends… and, it takes just 10 minutes to drive to Morten's place.
The two veteran musicians started practicing and completed a full song almost every time they got together. Grewe was tied up at home in Germany when it came time to write the vocals, so Poulsen sent the singer phone recordings from rehearsals to start the process. Through Poulsen and Toft Hansen's years of experience and renewed hunger to destroy, they captured a firestorm in a bottle.

Asinhell went from being a mere idea to recording the piledriving full-length Impii Hora in about a year. Poulsen asked Volbeat's management to help find a home for Asinhell and was thrilled when they mentioned that Metal Blade founder Brian Slagel would love the band. As soon as he heard Impii Hora, Slagel made Asinhell a top priority. "It's such a dream come true for me to get to be on fucking Metal Blade Records," Poulsen exclaims. "When they said they wanted to put out the album, I felt like I was 17 years old again. I was like, 'Oh my God, I'm making a deal with Metal Blade! How cool is that?' It was like I was finally getting the record deal I dreamed of when I was a teenager."
